Assault with Intent to Rob (Unarmed)

The crime of Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob is the unlawful assault of another with the intent to rob or steal with the use of force or violence.  Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 265, Section 20 punishes persons convicted of Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob with commitment to state prison for up to 10 years.

For the crime of Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob, the prosecutor must prove:
  1. That the defendant, not being armed with a dangerous weapon, assaulted a person with force and violence; and
  2. That he possessed a specific or actual intent to cause the death of the person assaulted.
